Wandile Ncapai

  • Born in Mthatha (formerly Umtata, Wandile has a BA Honours (Social Work) and a Master’s in community development studies and poverty reduction.
  • Has great experience in the areas of drafting economic policy and in community development programmes.
  • He currently serves as Chief Director for Community Development in the Department of Social Development in the Eastern Cape. There he has championed the development of a service delivery model for both provincial and national departments.

  • Wandile enjoys doing research and has co-authored a book called, ‘The State of Seventh-day Adventist Education in South Africa: An empirical analysis of the Cape Conference.”
  • His other great passion is karate. He is a former SA Knockdown full contact karate champ. He has a 5th Dan and acquired the status of a Shihan (‘master and man of example’). He represented South Africa several times in international karate tournaments and was awarded full Protea colours.
  • He has served as Adventist Men’s leader and head deacon, and is the secretary general of the Remnant Men’s Chorale (a group of over 100 men from Eastern and Western Cape, who not only sing, but run programmes in poor communities on issues such as drugs and alcoholism)
  • He is married to Thandiwe, and they have three children: Vumile, Lwando and Aliziwe.”
